Hello, Bon Jour, Kon’nichiwa, Ni Hao, Hola, Namaste, Salaam, Habari and welcome to The Saffron Kitchen. Now that you’ve made your way here, lets get acquainted shall we? My name is Kimmi and I am Indian, born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya. I’ve been living in the U.S for about 15 years now. It’s been a blessing growing up with my Indian roots in a different country.  I’ve had the opportunity to connect with people from different cultures and all walks of life which helped shape my view of the world.

I’m a blessed mom to an adorable 2 year old and my fur baby! 🙂

My life revolves around my munchkin, food and fitness! My journey with food isn’t something to boast about because …. well… Taco Bell happened… lol.. so moving here, I was exposed to all this “junk food” that i had never tried before. 80% of our diet, growing up in Africa, was real food.
Thankfully, at some point, I was introduced to the highly addictive world of fitness and it changed my life forever.  Over the last 6 years, fitness has become a huge part of my lifestyle to offset all the crappy calories  😉 So you’ll find me indulge in Antico’s Pizza on a Friday night and then take a hike on Saturday morning or burn off the calories at the gym.

The heart of Saffron Kitchen tells a story with every beat…. Imagine music filling every corner of the kitchen while yours truly creates magic in the oven.. a little dance around the island and a nice glass of wine to keep me company while I dream of what’s to come 🙂 This is a journey that began with the idea of trying to create dishes that would reduce junk food cravings… or elevating a salad dish so that it wasn’t just vegetables on a bed of lettuce. It evolved into a “repository” of my culinary photography and my vision to create simple dishes with exceptional visual appeal, realized.

I continue to look at ways I can give this the direction it needs while tending to my little one…

For what it’s worth, I’m glad you’re here and I hope you enjoy the blog (:
